Welcome to Port Broughton Area School
Thank you for visiting our school's website and I hope that you enjoy reading and seeing a snapshot about the school of which we are all so proud.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to our school, a school which caters for students Reception to Year 12. Our students leave school with a diverse range of skills and interests which they pursue through work or further education and training. Whatever they choose our students leave PBAS with a positive sense of their place and responsibility in a global community.
This website will provide you with a range of information about our school and this will give a lot of background information. I encourage you to contact the school to arrange a mutually convenient time to speak or meet with me to answer any specific questions that you may have or arrange a site tour of the school and meet the staff and students.
Our school vision is "Preparing young people for their future" and is supported by the school values of Respect, Honesty, Learning and Friendship. The R-10 Pastoral Care programme based on Program Achieve supports the well being of our students.
The school has focused on Integrating ICT into the curriculum and this is supported by wireless internet access throughout the school, Interactive Whiteboards in all classrooms, extensive computer access and the use of moodle and/or blogs for curriculum support.
The school has consistently high NAPLAN/SACE results and prides itself on supporting students with their chosen pathways in Senior Secondary School. We offer a range of subjects including University pathways, Vocational Education and Training options, school based apprenticeships and traineeships. Certificate 1 & 2 in Hospitality & Heavy Vehicle- Diesel is delivered on site with strong industry links with Cavpower for the diesel course.
There is an expectation that students will be able to complete their formal schooling at PBAS without undue disadvantage caused by distance, isolation and subject offerings at senior schooling. In fact most students have no trouble getting work because of the can-do work ethic engendered by this solid community and the high expectations of the staff and parents.
PBAS is supported by a very active Governing Council and associated committees, as well as parent volunteers for excursions, sports days, working bees, canteen helpers or listening to students read. Parents rate the school highly due to its caring and family like atmosphere.
